First operating license for drone flights

It took two years to finalize the concepts and submit the documentation to the aviation authority. On April 19, 2023, Susanne Bay, President of the Regional Council, granted approval for drone flights beyond visual line of sight.

“We at the Stuttgart Regional Council (the regional council of Stuttgart) see ourselves as an enabling administration and are therefore open to new projects. The project partners approached us with a very innovative proposal, which we have always supported. After reviewing the extensive application documents, we were able to grant the operating license after only about four months,” said Regional President (the head of the regional council of Stuttgart) Susanne Bay.

With the handover of the approval notice, Holger Schulze has become the first company in Europe to receive approval for the transport of medical samples by drone in complex flight environments in accordance with EASA regulations.
